The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn

This is a book that was read to me when I was a little girl. I read this book to my students on the first day of school because I know how hard it is to be separated from mom or dad on your first day of school. Chester was a raccoon that did not want to go to school in the forest. Mrs. Raccoon which is his mom shares a family secret called the kissing hand. This was to ease Chester fears about school. I give this to my parents during transitioning into Head Start. My children can walk up to their parents hand and touch it when they feel sad.
